Online Programming – What's Hot and What's Not

We're continuing to move in the direction of online video and entertainment, and yet there are so many questions. That's why I wanted to point out this fascinating survey of exactly what's online and how much it's actually being used. As they say in this report, "There is no question about the popularity of online video and it's abundantly clear that more and more people are spending a majority of their online time watching video content. By some measures, online video watching is even expected to reach
80% penetration by next year (as a percentage of internet users), and grow to almost 87% by 2011 (possibly a peak penetration level). But numbers and market penetration alone aren't enough to convince us. Check out this report and let me know your thoughts of what we should be doing to engage the culture online.

I find it interesting that the poll results are so evenly spaced.  There doesn't seem to be a small clump of two or three categories that are way ahead of the pack.

So that leads me to believe the future of online programming, and possibly the future of ministry programming will be varied greatly.  Unlike the "typical" preacher on a pulpit TV programming, the future may hold new kinds of documentaries, short films, news reports, etc. as ways to appeal to multiple cultures and audiences.
