I've known so many people in music who get this exciting idea (myself included) - "I think I'll build a recording studio..." out to the store they go, and spend $15,000 on what they need. It works to a certain degree. However, so many other people are doing this on their own, that if 15 of them got together, they could have built a $200,000 studio. Or, if they took the initial $15,000, they could rent a $1,000,000 studio, create an amazing project, recoup the money, and then do it all over again. Connectivity also speaks volumes of wisdom to the indie-artist/film-maker: to NOT keep re-inventing the wheel. Or, in film terms, don't try to teach yourself sound engineering for foley, go and make connections with a hand-full of experienced foley artists. That person will make ten years of progress with one phone call. </span></p> That connectivity aspect is huge!
