VERY bad at PR. Need to be more transparent with media. Open books means no fuel for fires and the “press” is mostly disarmed. This could also fall into your post about the “old guard” as well. So many VPs and heads of state at INSP…

Perception is important as well. Someone needs to be on staff to ask ‘how will this appear?” about a great many things. This would apply to everyone not just INSP.

From what little information was given here it certainly looks bad but lets be honest, he didn't do something to cost thousands of people their homes, get a 40 million dollar bonus and then a government bailout for his company.

I don't know what the going rate for the CEO of a company like that is, 1.5 million may really be underpaid.

I do know that as a Christian he might consider taking a smaller salary to save jobs of those who lost them and put heat in the building, that would certainly make a statement about him and his beliefs.

Don’t know the whole truth, but the Charlotte Observer has proven over and over and over again, that they do not always do due diligence when it comes to “ministry related” stories. Before we condemn, let’s make sure we have all the stories. I am a missionary and hate to see the waste in ministries, but hate even more when we turn on our own before we know the ‘whole truth’.

EASY does it, Phil. Actually thought it to be a fair question on my part. I did not suggest that you were wrong in doing so. In this world of VERY complicated relationships and how blogging/message boards can have an impact on them, I often am very interested to the approach you take in this blog. Just curious as to how it related in this case.

Your answer is fair (aside from the sarcasm...but I am the king of sarcasm so no big deal there).

So...maybe you're suggesting he's innocent until proven guilty? If so...I'd go with your comment about his PR skills (I'll leave it in your words...fairly succinct).

Curious as to the thought process behind advertising jobs for INSP on your job board and linking to stories like this on your blog capped with a thought like "Anyone know a good crisis PR agency?".

Maybe that’s because I’m trying to remain objective. Maybe I’m not automatically sucked into the feeding frenzy of the media that fighting to keep it’s doors open. Maybe… JUST maybe, The owner of INSP has other business interests that have enabled him to build his own house? Maybe it’s notable that his houses are not in the name of the ministry and he doesn’t live in a church parsonage. Maybe he just sucks at PR. Maybe the question is rhetorical! Who knows? Just a few thoughts….
