More on The Huckabee Strategy

I have to admit, I had no idea I have so many readers who are Huckabee fans. And what's more, you're a pretty civil bunch. I only had to delete one response because of the profanity… :-) Your passion is obvious and I have to admit that I wish more of the candidates had Mike's wit, authenticity, and spontaneity. While there are a few responses that are obviously
a bit out of touch with reality, it's refreshing to see people who are committed to the cause. As I said before, it will be interesting to see how his decision to stick with it plays out. Can a miracle happen? According to mathematics, he's still in the race, and we'll see what happens.

I've alway been a firm believer in what we Australians call the "Steven Bradbury" principle. Steve won the first winter olypmic gold medal for Australia in 2002 when the four guys in front of him all fell over just meters from the finish line.It aint over til its over.

I smell the stinch of an elitist attitude rising up in the minds and hearts of the Republican party pundits and conservative radio broadcasters. Although Romney was a flawed candidate, the professional conservative part of the party still supported him because they did not like Mike Huckabee because he seemed to common(a hick)to represent "thier party"; their way of thinking. In spite of the fact that Mr.Huckabee lined up in every way as a social, economic, and strong on defense conservative he was rejected because of where he came from, where he went to school, the circles he was/was'nt known in. Clearly a prejudicial and classless action by people who supposedly help keep the heartbeat of true conservatism(Reaganism)steady. This kind of conservatism does not represent (Reaganism)and if he were alive today it would sadden him greatly. The very people who have grabed the torch of conservatism that Reagan and this great Republican party has built, has allowed this poison of elitism that has destroyed so many empires, to trickle down into the hearts and minds and subsequently this election.
So, because of this we are now represented by a candidate (John McCain an American hero) that was a foot soldier in the Reagan army but has since strayed to the other side of the ailse far to many times to be forgiven or trusted.I believe there is still time to correct this mistake and get behind a real conservative, regardless of his origin or pedigree the bottom line is he is one of us, he is a conservative.
His name is Gov. Mike Huckabee!

I know I'm getting old and slightly forgetful, but there were Republicans before Ronald Reagan, right? And conservatives, too. In fact, I seem to recall one of them freeing the slaves, but that was probably just media hype. ;)

I am a 60 year old diabled Viet Nahm Vet. You, are probably thinking right now oh! this guy is for Mc'Cain. Quite, the contrary. I'm not at all. I'm wanting someone who is not of the old Republican guard. Someone with new fresh ideas and knows how it is to grow up in the same middle class families that are being left out by all of the Washington fat cats in their Ivory Towers.

When I look at this Country today I see a division that is between those who have Money and Power and those who do not.  The oppressed or easier to control and are less more likely to fight back.  I don't want someone who sits in the Senate and passes bills for some poor Govenor to budget with the Monies he is allowed. I want that Govenor who had to balance his budget and still keep the Majority of the people happy in his state even if he had to raise taxes so  those people could have better home Scooling programs. Better roads and highways.

I was stationed in California for a while when Ronald Reagen was Govenor and he wasn't well liked by a lot of people because he had raised taxes numerous times in that state.

I want a Govenor who was raised dirt poor because that was the best his parents could give him and hes not ashamed to tell millions of people that he owes evrything to his parents because they sacrificed so much for him to possiblty run for President of the United States some day. I want a President that is glad to admit that he is the only male from his side of the family that went on to College. These are the things I look for in a leader. I look for this man to know what family values are and how precious each and every life is especially those in their mothers womb. Not one that just says he believes it but has proven in his polical carreer that he also lives it. I only see these thing in one Candidate. That is Mike Huckabee.

He has a vision for every one to have a chance but those fat cats in the Ivory Towers will not have that happen. They will go to all costs to keep him from winning. His vision for the fair tax would crush the economy of today that depends on the wealthy that invest in Wall Street. Of course you can see that is not working to well any more since they are afraid to invest in it now.

Neil Bortz and some other guy has now taken Mikes fair tax idea and wrote a book about it. Their hoping it will become a best seller and then Congress will have to look at it closer. Bortz, said that on his own show. Shawn Hannity even likes the idea but everyone acts like Huckabee is crazy for suggesting it. Just take the guys idea because you don' t think he is Presidential enough. He, was the only Candidate that said he would incorporate the fair tax if he was elected.

I myself and those who are poor to middle class can't afford to invest in the Stock Market. So, when the Stock Market go's belly up the Government just prints more money to pacify us for a while. The only trouble is, it's like Mr. Huckabee says, that if we spend this little bit of money that is so graciously being given to us the way the Feds wants us to, most of it will go back to build up Chinas economy even more since what we buy is sold here that are made by companies that are in China.

He said we would be better to borrow the Money from China and invest it to build new Bridges that are falling down and a new nation wide infastructure. This would create thousands of jobs built with American materials and American labor. The pundits have literaly blew him off but I heard Bloomberg say the other day that he was not endorsing Obama but he does like the plan he is talking about building a new Infastructure in this Country. Mike Huckabee was the first one who said this and he even said that we would create enough labor and jobs to pay off the Debt to China and boost our own economy and have billions left over with all of the jobs that would be created. This man is a smart man. Can you see why Huckabees supporters are so frustrated? He has had so many of his ideas taken by other Candidates and the Media has made him to look like some Baptist Preacher up on a stage looking like all he knows how to do is play a bass guitar.

He knows that the small businesses are what keeps our economy strong and if you don't allow small businesses to develope then this is why so many large Corporations have sold out to foreign markets because the goverment has allowed the big Corporations to compete against the small businesses where they eventualy bought them out.

I lost my job of 30 years bcause this happened to a Company I worked for. When I went to work for a small dairy in the midwest i was part of the growth that took place in the 30 years I was employed with them and eventually they closed the plant where I worked and they put me out on the street at 53 year old. I was only 3 years from a full retirement with the Teamsters. 75% of the guys I worked with had 3-5 year before retirement. You may have heard of Dairy Farmers Of America. What happened was a small business which was Mid-America Dairyman when I went to work for them kept getting bigger and ran so many small Daries out of businees. the small Daries could not compete anymore and was forced to either go out of business are sell their business to the one I was working for thus making them eventually the largest dairy in the Nation.

Mr. Huckabee understand that you have to free up more money for people to start more small businesse. That is what drives this country. He said if he was President he would pay a million dollars to the first person that invented a Carburator that would get 100 miles to the gallon. He said we could start drilling in our own Country untill we could wean ouselves off of oil dependence of the middle east and eventually off of it all together as we moved to a cleaner efficent source of energy. He said that their Oil would be no more use to us than their sand.

I know why they want to stop this man from being President.  Just think of these American oil and car Companies not being able to rip the average joe off. You may think that a carburator that gets !00 miles to the gallon is impossible but I remember reading an article in Popular Mechanics back in 1975 that a man had invented one and had proven that it worked. Unfortunately, he was never heard of again. I figured he was bought off by one of the big american car companies. If we would have had a President that would have paid him a million dollars and he would have been awarded the noble peace prize for his accomplishment who knows what kind of mileage we would be getting today.

I'm not a dreamer I just know that if we can send a bunch of people up in space for 2 or 3 months at a time and bring them back home safetly we could have a carburator on a car that would get 100 miles to the gallon. Exxon and all of the large oil companies are turning record profits while the common people are barely making it from pay check to pay check.  This is part of the plan to keep people depressed and at the same time opressed. An opressed society is the reason why there are so many depressed people today. It is staggering how many people are on anti-depressents.  That is the only way people can survive and deal with the opression. The government knows exactly what their doing.

That is another reason they want to take the guns away too. Although, I don't own one I believe in the 2nd amendment and so does Mike Huckabee. The government knows that people with arms and in numbers could rise up and protest the way they are being treated as second class citizens. If you take their 2nd amendment rights away you then have a passive people and you can keep them from objecting about how they are being treated. They will complain and whine but that's about all they can do.

         Here&#
39;s a thought. If That Proffessor that was standing on the stage when that former student walked on the other end of the stage would have had a 9 M.M and had been trained how to use it possibly he could have taken out that shooter before he raised his guns and started killing all those students. It's a shame but that was a no guns allowed campus.

Sounds like the old west doesn't it? I figure if that's what it takes to protect our kids and teachers then that is somthing that should be considered. What does our government want to do? Make stronger laws for people to purchase a gun. All, that does is take the guns out of peoples hands to be able to protect themselves. The criminals are still going to figure out how to get guns.

Well, all I know is Mike huckabee has a way to make real change in this Country and the Old Republican Party isn't going to let it happen. Because lets face it. What party has all the Fat Cats?

I would vote Democrat but I believe in Mike and I vote by my belief in what my faith teaches as moral principles. If Mike doesn't make it. I will just write in his name and vote for him anyway. Then, I can go to bed that night with a clear concious and feel good about myself. When people complain to me about how they don't care for something our new President has done they can't blame me. The way I look at it. people deserve what they voted for.

I to like many others had not heard of Mike Huckabee until early January. I decided to go in and read about each candidate. At the time i was leaning toward Romney. After a thourough research process I found the best candidate for president was Mike Huckabee. His position on all of the issues stood out the most. They simply make sense. The fair tax was the deal closer for me. That by itself has the ability to solve the national debt, the social security and the economic issues we face in this great nation. I am 47 years old and have never campaigned for anyone until now. I vigorously campaigned for Mike. In the peocess I was apalled at the GOP party in Michigan. They took a railroad stance in this state. Literally if you did not support Romney you where blacklisted as a facist idiot. It was then that I decided to make a difference. I may not be able to get Mike nominated by myself, but what I can do is becaome a delegate for the GOP party. I immediatley put my name and my wife's name on the upcoming ballot in November. I will win that election and I will make sure never again will the GOP in Michigan railraod the delegates to their beliefs. I spoke to many delegates who gave away their vote long before Huckabee got in the race, but felt if they changed the GOP would blacklist them into obscurity. What a shame this process has become. Its no longer the voice of the people. I have said many time, if a person would simply place on a wall a list of all the candidates stances on issues and cover up the names at the same time, to avoid knowing who it is. Then stand back and just read them. They would be surprised to learn the person the agree with the most would be Mike Huckabee. You have to forget all the negative media out there. If The press wanted to make Ronald Reagan out as a facist pig they could. My advice to anyone reading this is to research and read do not listen to the media. They are biased and operate on their agenda not ours.

    February 20, 2008 @9:14 Arizona time -

After the results were called for Wisconsin so quickly tonight, and the air seemed to be sucked out of the room, I had to sit down and think, “What do I want to do now?”

I had to ask that question because I suffer daily with Chronic Fatigue & Immune Dysfunction Syndrome (CFIDS) and Fibromyalgia (FMS) and helping you to fight the good fight takes a lot out of me every day.

So I sat down and asked myself one question. “Can I with a clear conscience and spirit, support any of the other nominees?

One second passed and I knew what I had to do. I cannot and will not support any one but you, no matter what the outcome.

For me this is more than party loyalty, (even though I am an Independent) or conservatism. This is about right and wrong as in what is right and what is wrong with America and how do we bring about the necessary change that is right, not wrong, for America.

The thought that Planned Parenthood wants to build a 78,000 square foot late-term abortion clinic in Houston makes me ill.

The thought that I am in stage four of my illness because we don’t have health care that is “preventative” makes me mad on bad days.

The thought that there are those who through concerted effort wish to change the very fabric of America from a sovereign statehood to the North American Union makes my angry.

The thought that the leaders of our country, the media and the GOP believe it is within their right to pre-select a candidate and then continuously force it on the American people is unimaginable and unforgivable.

The thought that truth, honor, integrity are no longer terms that many in our political and government agencies adhere to, makes me sad.

The thought that the trillion dollars of debt that continues to grow everyday will be left to the next generation if real change doesn’t happen soon, makes be disillusioned.

I am not one of the “uneducated and poor” that the media ridicules while they chuckle about your supporters.

I am an intelligent woman who served her country for 8 years, who makes an adequate income and who has a BA. I am quite able to research the qualities and records of each of the candidates on my own and determine who would be best suited to be the 44th President of the United States!

I have made that choice and you are it, come hell or high water. I will not be manipulated, swayed, or coerced into going against what I innately believe within me.

Today I draw a line in the sand, and I reconfirm that I will stand with you to the end of this race.

    Remaining Steadfast,

    Dominique

My family loves Mike Huckabee. He should never get out of the race. I have never gotten into an election in my life, until now. My heart just breaks the way this whole election process has been played out. I never knew just how corrupt things were. I can't believe Amercians are not really researching the candidates before they vote. Mike has been a true inspiration.

I am 33 years old and will turn 34 the day before the general election this year. While I do not have a registered party affiliation, I have always voted republican and my conscious would not allow me to do otherwise. This nomination process has by far been the one I have been the most involved and interested in. Last year when candidates began to announce their candidacies, I knew there were some I could not support, like the then favorite Guliani, due to their weak stands on social/moral issues such as marriage and abortion. As I researched the ones I knew less or nothing about, Mike Huckabee stood out though I had never heard of him before. The more I learned about the candidates, the more I supported Mike Huckabee even though I was uncertain of his chances due to his obscurity and absence in the early polls. I never strayed from supporting him and now he has proved me right and has honored my support (and that of others who have supported him). I will support him all the way how ever far that may be. I believe if others would simply look at the issues and Huckabee's character, he would be the clear choice for conservative Americans.

My vote even in November will only be for Mike Huckabee.  I have worked in local, state and national campaigns before I could even vote, I'm now 41.  The way in which our votes don't truely count with delegates being allowed to vote for whom ever they want and such, we really don't have a system that is by the people.  Our individual votes truely don't count.

I think it is time for Americans to take a stand against Government corruption.  Just think, what would happen to me if I wrote hot check after hot check…  yet, our congress spends trillions they don't have.  How long are we going to live for the immediate gratification of "I want it all, and I want it now?"  Our country and the generations to come are already suffering for our selfishness.  We need a change alright – not only in Washington, but throughout the land, in each of our citizens hearts.  God first, His ways first, loving our neighbor as ourselves, and us last.  We need a revival here in America and to share the love of Christ and the good news.  All things are possible with Christ!

  • http://anunlikelyperspective.blogspot.com/ Dominique

When I renamed my blog to, an unlikely perspective, I was only beginning to see how "different" my perspective was from most of my fellow Americans.

The one thing I have found with other Mike Believers is a renewed pride to be an American. When I read about how people came to choose Mike as their candidate and how loyal they (we) all are, I know there is still hope for us as a country yet!

For me this election is not about gender, color, or party. It is about choosing the individual who is most able to run this great country with integrity and honor. Being part French, I remember the view many of my relatives had of the "Clintons" in their eight years and I dread going back to that perception in the world.

I believe that with the right candidate, America can thrive, be a light on the hill for the world, and develop relations with the world that are based on honor, character, integrity and conviction that there is such a thing as "right and wrong."

As always, Phil, I love reading your blog. In fact, I look forward to it.

For anyone reading my post, Phil's new book is a must buy! Very well written and inspirational. I have learned much from reading it. I am actually thinking about reading it again!

I think the people that are criticizing Huckabee are going to criticize him regardless of what he does.  If he were to get out and endorse McCain, Rush would say "see I told you so", he's a sycophant who just wants the VP.  If he stays in, it's about his personal ambition.

I was talking to my sons when we were driving to the store about how people's character is revealed in the way they see other people and judge their motives. One of the stores was a bookstore and they had a book by Huckabee, "Character Makes a Difference".  I took it off the shelf and opened it at random and my eyes fell upon this: "to someone who tells lies, everyone is a liar."  I think the pundits' perception and judgment of Huckabee's motives speak more loudly about THEIR motives.  They assume that everyone would act for the same reasons they would act.

But it is possible that Huckabee is a man of principle.  It's possible that he got into politics because he saw an opportunity to educate people that they shouldn't kill their babies and throw them into the trash.  It's possible that his supporters, like me, like him because of his firm moral principles that he takes without being angry and the truth that he speaks without anger.  And it could be that a vote for Huckabee is a vote for these principles he's been espousing that place a higher value on life than on fiscal policy because we believe that if we honor God and marriage first and love human life more than money, God will add peace and prosperity to our country.

I really don't care about the GOP – I care about principles.  And it increasingly seems that the GOP elite and talk radio are all too ready to lower the bar of "conservatism" to the floor for their friends and then raise it to impossible heights of perfection for others.  I've seen "leaders of the Christian Right" do the same thing.  Pat Robertson endorsed Giuliani, the most pro-abortion, same-sex marriage candidate ever to run for the GOP, when he was up.  Then Gary Bauer supporting Romney and saying a vote for Huckabee was a vote for McCain.  Three days later Romney was out of the race and 4 days later Bauer endorsed McCain!

I was never a follower of these men, but win or lose, Huckabee's candidacy has served those to whom principles matter.  We can see that National Right to Life will endorse Thompson, who they gave a 33% approval rating, and pass over Huckabee who went above and beyond what any Senator or Governor has ever done for the pro-life cause.  But we see that at the state and local level, Right to Life is still principled.  Perhaps the leadership can be changed before it rots the entire organization.

The same is true of our country.  Many of us Huckabee supporters have seen every form of ridicule and mockery, push polls and negative ads, thrown at Huckabee.  But we have carefully examined his record, his writings and the accusations.  I will not be scared, intimidated or shamed into giving up a principled cause or the person who represents it so well.

The GOP made the rules and set the point at which the game ends.  That they would criticize him for not giving up and quitting when the game's not over says more about them than about Huckabee.  Do we mock the team that won't quit no matter how far behind they are?  Do we criticize them for playing hard because they might hurt the other team which has a championship game to go to? That the GOP and media criticizes Huckabee for not giving up but continuing to talk about the principles and issues that matter so much to our team shows me that they don't have what it takes to win – heart and a commitment to something greater than their political careers. But Huckabee has it in abundance.

I have been a life long Republican and proud of it — until today!  I am so embarassed by the elite GOP leadership that has decided to violate our Right to Speak and our Right to Vote.  The GOP Elites have decided a coronation is in order this year, and the Kingmakers have chosen McCain.  This is so unamerican I can't stand it!  I thought I supported a Conservative All American party.  Now I see dirty tricks, voter supression, intimidation, misinformation, etc.

Also, did you know that the numbers of delegates allocated to McCain are falsely elevated?  That is because they are reporting all the UNCOMITTED Delegates with the BOUND Delegates.  For example, some of the states that McCain won allow their delegates to go to the National Convention and vote for whomever they choose — so, those UNCOMMITTED Delegates are able to vote for Huckabee.  There are a MUCH smaller amount of BOUND Delegates that MUST vote for McCain.  But, the GOP reports and Conservative Media lump them together and inflate the "real" number of delegates allocated to McCain.

This is amazing.  I am horrified at the process.  At this week ends MI GOP, the leadership actually told the Delegates that they MUST  UNITE BEHIND ONE CANDIDATE. Give me a break.  Romney's delegates are now free to choose whoever they want for President — and many told me they were voting for Huckabee.  But, because of the attitude of intimidation and peer pressure, they "whispered" it to me.  They're undercover Huckabee Supporters — now, isn't that idiotic?  What is wrong with our party?  Just why did they fall in love with McCain?

I am not going to vote for him.  He's a liberal.  If I want to be part of a liberal party, I'll join the democrats.  So, now I'm a member of a party that has no values.  But, asks us to unite and support their Annointed one.  How about, if we wait for the Convention and let the people vote?  More voters are waiting in other states to get their chance to vote for Huckabee — we know, they're part of our grassroots organization.

And, why did the GOP & McCain cancel the Ohio Republican Debate?  Just what are they afraid of?  Well, I know — it's because every time Huckabee gets on tv, his poll numbers go up — so, the GOP & their Conservative Media pals have done their best to suppress Mike.  How Democratic of them.  But, the Voters are not put off — they've found the internet and are using it as a tool.  Huckabee's web site gets more hits than McCains or Ron Pauls!!!  So, the dissatisfied voters have not been denied access to information by the Media and GOP Elite — the internet has provided it — and if you watch and see . . . . Huckabee's polls are soaring!!!

  • AmeriKan

"Had no idea I had so many readers who were Huckabee fans."

Phil, yet your voting poll showed Huckabee with a whopping 41% lead and McCain with only 13%.  The response should have been no surprise.
