Chuck says, "It's a sin in my opinion not to be involved in your civic duty."

First of all, what does he mean by civic duty--the context here suggests that at least voting falls under that umbrella.

Secondly, on what authority does he base this opinion? I find nowhere in Scripture mandating that we vote.

I understand that he thinks Christians should be doing everything they can to make a difference in the world, but how does choosing between Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum make a difference? I'm not saying that voting doesn't make a difference; I'm not even saying that who the president is doesn't make a difference. I'm saying that sometimes I think it's our spiritual duty--which even Chuck would agree trumps "civic duty"--to not vote when there is no qualified candidate. I wonder if Chuck thinks choosing between to evils is a sin. To me, it is. And I'm not talking about minor issues; I'm talking about things like abortion, the death penalty, the war in Iraq, etc. These are very serious issues that prevent me from getting behind any of the candidates still standing.
